Due to recent changes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, The U.S. Department of State (DOS) has canceled all routine immigrant and nonimmigrant visa appointments. The decision had entered into force on March 20, 2020 and will remain in place indefinitely

DOS has also announced that the payment of Machine-Readable Visa fees will remain valid for one year and may be used for visa appointment rescheduling.

Although all routine visa services were suspended for an uncertain period, U.S. citizens and applicants with urgent matters needing to travel immediately remain able to address their matter to U.S. Embassies and Consulates. This decision does not affect the Visa Waiver Program, although a travel ban remains in effect for most European countries participating in the program.
